Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Mars late at night with Emmanuel Macron and visited the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Marseille late on Tuesday night. Apart from visiting the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project here, PM Modi also visited the Mazargues War Cemetery to pay tribute to the Indian soldiers who lost their lives during the World War.

After reaching Marseille, PM Modi and President Macron embraced and remembered Savarkar. He posted that this city has a special significance in India’s independence. Savarkar was arrested in London in 1910 under the Nashik Conspiracy case. He was brought to India by ship. When his ship reached Marseille, he jumped into the sea and swam to the shore.

The British police arrested him again in Marseille. The French government opposed Savarkar’s arrest on its soil and took the matter to the International Court of Justice.
