A 20-month-old baby in Gujarat was given an injection worth Rs 16 crore, brought from the US to Ahmedabad in 72 hours.
20-month-old child of a Muslim family from Himmatnagar has fallen victim to a rare disease SMA. In this hour of trouble, people have contributed to the family with open hearts. To save the child’s life, an injection was ordered from America within 72 hours by making a cold chain, which was successfully administered at a hospital in Ahmedabad yesterday, February 13. The child’s health is currently improving. This is the first incident in Gujarat where a child suffering from SMA has been given an injection.
The child who fell victim to SMA disease is 20 months old and lives in Himmatnagar. When the child was born, initially the family did not know anything about this serious disease, but after a month and a half, some suspicions arose. After that, when the doctor took the report, it was diagnosed with SMA disease, due to which the family was devastated. The financial condition of the family was normal, so they had to resort to crowd funding to save the child and in a span of a few months, crores of rupees were collected.
Abid Ali Patel is a family member of this child. He was present at the hospital during the child’s treatment.
Many people also helped with 50 or 100 rupees
Abid Ali says that the drug manufacturing company had given a discount and Impact Guru Foundation had helped a lot.
Stating that there is relief now, Abid Ali said that the child should move around healthily and live a good life. He has been relieved after getting the injection. Now we see hope that the child will recover. The child was treated by Dr. Nitish Vora, Dr. Sanjeev Mehta and Dr. Siddharth Shah and their team, who have years of experience.
Cost of injection 16 crores
Regarding the cost of the injection, Dr. Sanjeev Mehta says that the cost of the injection is around 16 crores. Since these injections come from outside, they are more expensive. If the government is approached, the state and central governments provide a lot of help and tax exemptions, which reduces the cost of the injection significantly. The price can vary by approximately 40 to 50 percent.
About the journey of the injection from America to Ahmedabad, Dr. Nitish Vora said that this injection left the American company 72 hours before it reached here. For this, its cold chain is maintained, to maintain which it is frozen at minus 70 degrees Celsius. Before this, all the papers of its courier, customs were cleared, of which three sets were made.
This injection was maintained in minus degrees, while maintaining that there is no plus or minus in the blog, it came to Dubai via Emirates flight. Then it reached Delhi airport, where its customs clearance was done, all its papers were ready. In this, the government waived off the customs duty. After this, this injection came to Ahmedabad by plane in minus 70 degrees.
